Preparing for Surgery
Medication: Stop taking aspirin, coumadin, plavix or any other blood thinner (7) days before surgery. Confirmation: Call the day before to confirm your surgery (626) 289-2894

Nite before Surgery Food
Do NOT eat or drink anything eight (8) hours before surgery. You cannot eat or drink anything after midnight.

Day of Surgery
Medications: If you are diabetic, DO NOT take any insulin. This includes over the counter medications and natural/herbal medications. If you take heart, high blood pressure, and/or stomach medications (i.e. Nexium, Zantac, Pepcid, Tagament, Prevacid, Prilosec) you may take them the morning of your surgery at 5 a.m. with ONLY a teaspoon of water.

What to Bring
Bring ALL your medications. Any equipment (i.e. crutches, slings) given to you at your doctor’s office and wear 100% cotton underwear. Completed pre-operation forms packet.

Arrange Transportation
You will be sedated or have general anesthesia during surgery, therefore you will need to make arrangements to have someone bring you and pick you up after your surgery. By law, after surgery you will not be able to drink alcohol or drive any type of vehicle for 24 hours after you are discharged from the surgical center

Recovery:
Before you are discharged to go home, you will receive specific instructions to follow as your recovery process begins. Instructions vary based on the type of surgical procedure performed
